Your Body, Your Voice, Your Choice
In Cameroon and across the world, young people are standing up for…
FLAME (Fostering Leadership and Advocacy for Marginalized Equity) is a 12-month fellowship program designed to empower young leaders in Cameroon to champion Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Open to advocates aged 18–35, the program combines intensive training, mentorship, and hands-on experience to tackle issues like teen pregnancy, gender-based violence, and limited SRHR access in underserved communities.
Structured in three impactful phases—Ignition, Spark, and Blaze—FLAME guides fellows from foundational learning to community-driven action. Participants design real-world projects, influence policies, and build strong advocacy networks. FLAME is more than a program—it’s a growing movement for equity, justice, and lasting change.
FLAME Initiative aims to cultivate a generation of change-makers who redefine leadership in gender justice and health equity. Through this initiative, young advocates will be equipped with ethical leadership skills, conflict resolution strategies, and inclusive decision-making frameworks. Fellows emerge as confident leaders, capable of mobilizing communities and mentoring future SRHR champions.
Through the fellowship, we aim to dismantle systemic barriers by ensuring laws reflect the needs of marginalized communities through grassroots campaigns, digital activism, and policy labs. Fellows will contribute towards influencing policies which will lead to expanded SRHR services, stricter GBV laws, and youth-friendly healthcare reforms
FLAME fellows will challenge discrimination by advocating for inclusive policies and culturally sensitive SRHR education to guarantee that SRHR rights are universal, regardless of identity or geography and that there is reduction in disparities in healthcare access, particularly for all
Support tech-driven and community-led innovations that will bridge gaps in healthcare access through creativity and adaptability and advocate for increased access to SRHR information and services, even in crisis-affected regions
Flame Initiative seeks to create a movement where no voice is silenced in the advocacy for SRHR justice and elevate the stories of rural youth, conflict survivors, and underserved groups, ensuring their lived experiences shape solutions.
In a country where adolescent pregnancy, gender-based violence, and limited access to sexual and reproductive health services continue to threaten the futures of young people, FLAME emerges as a catalyst for transformation. This initiative isn’t just about leadership—it’s about igniting a movement where youth become powerful agents of change. FLAME equips young advocates with the tools, training, and platform to challenge inequality, amplify unheard voices, and influence real policy reforms. It’s not just a program; it’s a bold step toward a more just, equitable, and empowered Cameroon.
